League invited by new sponsor

The West Cornwall Table Tennis League has just started its 51st season buoyed by a new sponsor who has agreed to support the main league programme and the player of the month awards.

Steve Hunt, one of the league's long-standing premier division players, has agreed to support the league through his company Ignition Credit PLC, of which he is a director.

The company, based at Truro Business Park, Threemilestone, do much of their business in the field of motor finance and are delighted to become involved in table tennis.

On the playing side, the league will comprise 38 teams playing in four divisions with clubs being based throughout the area from St Austell to Cape Cornwall.

League champions Falmouth Docks A look hot favourites to retain the title with Jeremy Williams, Adrian Noott and Martin Rule being three of the top players in the country. With most of Cornwall's top players being in West Cornwall, plenty of top quality matches should be in prospect.

Division one should be interesting with a good mixture of very experienced players and up and coming youngsters rubbing shoulders.

Although the league as a whole is slightly smaller than last year, a number of young players are coming through the ranks and plenty of coaching is being carried out in the country.
