Greenyard Flowers, near Penzance, is the largest grower of daffodil flowers and bulbs in the world. Resting in the Varfell valley, its extensive farmland overlooks Mounts Bay and St Michael’s Mount and benefits from a unique microclimate that is perfect for daffodils. The combination of climate, soil and expertise has enabled Greenyard Flowers to develop exclusive early and late flowering daffodil varieties, meaning they can enjoy an unusually long season.
Together with its grower partners, Greenyard Flowers supplies around 40% of the UK market, and also exports bulbs across Europe. Ignition has been working with the company for a number of years, assisting its expansion with asset finance for new equipment and machinery.
Most recently, Ignition helped Greenyard Flowers with the purchase of industry specific equipment including a harvester, planter and sprayer. Ignition arranged a hire purchase solution, whereby the cost of the equipment is paid in affordable monthly instalments.
According to Marie-Charlotte Pycke from Greenyard Flowers, the new machinery is already providing efficiencies:
“Every year there is huge demand for daffodils across the UK and Europe. Our new equipment has helped us to boost the business and supply the market. We are able to harvest swiftly with less wastage and can plant significantly more. This has helped us to scale up and maximise production, and we are already seeing the benefits.
“Now, more than ever, people are keen to brighten their home with Spring flowers, and to send them to their loved ones. We’re pleased to be helping to spread some happiness in these difficult times.”
She adds: “Ignition have always offered us good rates, great communication and fast service. As a fellow Cornish company, they really understand our business and go that extra mile to support us.”
